40 minutes by car from Zurich…

With a population of around 180, Innerthal in the Swisscanton of Schwyz is one of the many small Swiss communities where the world seems to stand still and remain in order. One can persistently hear that things are fine the way they are.
Nevertheless, it cannot be avoided that even in this structure, circumstances start to move and questions inevitably arise: What to do when things change, whether you like it or not? How to deal with the loss of control of a change that is not self-initiated?

Pawel Streit explored this village with text and images in the "here and now," immersing himself in everyday life, going from being a stranger to being familiar. With both precise and expressive photographs and reflective reportage, he addresses the relationship between city and country in the age of globalization, which is currently once again attracting attention in the political-social discourse. The book builds bridges, provides an urban audience with insight into another world, and at the same time stimulates thought in that very world.
