Capturing the grace and spirit of outstanding horses

“In this book, Silvio Maraini has managed to show the great diversity of horse personalities, with all their facets and fine characteristics.” Ingrid Klimke, Olympic gold medallist in eventing

In this extraordinary illustrated book 99 horses are portrayed. The horses’ personalities are as different as the way they present themselves to the camera. The photographer and author captured the protagonists under studio-like conditions in their own riding halls and boxes. Without bridle and halter and against a uniform background, the horses are shown detached from their everyday context. Staged this way, world-famous horses such as Totilas, Weihegold, Taloubet Z, Nino des Buissonnets or Hale Bob – as well as numerous unknown four-legged stars – captivate the viewer with their charisma, beauty and inimitable character.
