Max Bill

Max Bill was born in 1908 in Winterthur. After his training as silversmith at the Zurich University of the Arts he studied architecture at the Bauhaus in Dessau. From 1929 on he worked as architect, artist, graphic and exhibition designer, later also as theorist, publicist, lecturer and politician. He received numerous awards, e. g. the Praemium Imperiale in 1993. Bill died in Berlin in 1994.
