Alexis Malefakis

Alexis Malefakis is a social anthropologist with a research focus on urban anthropology, economic anthropology, praxeology and material culture, and a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. He gained his doctoral degree from the University of Constance with a dissertation on street vendors in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Since 2014, he has been the curator of the African collections at the Ethnographic Museum at the University of Zurich.
